About SelfEmployer

SelfEmployer is a free employment-law-deadline reminder service and a set of document templates for UK households and micro-businesses employing their first member of staff — a nanny, a carer, a first employee.

Who runs it

SelfEmployer is built and run by the maker of selflandlord.com, which does the same job for UK landlords: track the legal dates, email people before each one hits, and keep the paperwork current. Questions, corrections or anything else: hello@selfemployer.co.uk.

How we source what we publish

Every statement of law on this site links to its source — gov.uk, Acas, or the legislation itself. Every page shows the date its sources were last checked. Dates for the Employment Rights Act 2025 follow the government's published implementation roadmap; when the government revises that roadmap, we update every page that cites an affected date and email subscribers about the change.

Corrections

If you spot an error, email hello@selfemployer.co.uk. We check it against the primary source, fix it, and update the page's "sources last checked" date. Getting this right matters more to us than being right the first time.

What this site is not

SelfEmployer provides general information and document templates, not legal advice, and we say so on every page. For advice on your specific situation, speak to a solicitor or contact Acas.
